Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In March 2021, 27,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Sundsvall (+23.0 %), of which 25,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 11 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's March.

6,600 rooms (+65.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,300 rooms (-12.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 71,800 registered bed nights (-20.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,500 (-17.4 %) for foreigners in Sundsvall, in total 76,300 (-20.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sundsvall out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay increased 22 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. In Sundsvall, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.9 nights (+14.8 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+30.5 %).

14,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.1 percent were domestic, and 3.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.9 nights (+0.33) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.58).
