Registered bed nights increased 40 percent

In August 2021, 75,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Sundsvall (+40.4 %), of which 66,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 31 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 240 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 40 percent from last year's August.

17,400 rooms (+27.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,800 rooms (+41.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 331,000 registered bed nights (+11.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 28,400 (+94.1 %) for foreigners in Sundsvall, in total 359,000 (+15.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sundsvall out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Sundsvall, length of stay in August was on average 1.6 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (+3.0 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+12.3 %).

46,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 41 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.2 percent were domestic, and 10.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.13).
