2,900 registered bed nights

In November 2020, 2,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Svalbard (-51.1 %), of which 2,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 240 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 26 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 90 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 51 percent from last year's November.

2,700 nights (-52.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 98 nights (-20.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and November, 44,600 registered bed nights (-48.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,800 (-74.1 %) for foreigners in Svalbard, in total 63,400 (-60.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 861,000 registered bed nights (-56.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 751,000 nights (-54.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 111,000 nights (-67.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Svalbard out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

Length of stay increased 19 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. In Svalbard, length of stay in November was on average 3.1 nights and in Norway 2.4 nights (+37.9 %).

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Svalbard on average 3.1 nights (+12.5 %) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+52.3 %).

920 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.7 percent were domestic, and 7.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Svalbard on average 3.1 nights (+0.5) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+0.88).

The airport received a total of 1,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 46 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.
