Sweden: Tourism in a nutshell
3.1 million registered bed nights
In September 2020, 3.1 million bed nights were recorded in Sweden (-30.6 %), of which 2.7 million nights were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 20 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 62 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 31 percent from last year's September.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (122,000 nights).
Between January and September, 32.4 million bed nights (-21.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4.3 million (-71.4 %) for foreigners in Sweden, in total 36.8 million (-34.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

320,000 air travelers
The airport received a total of 320,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 82 percent.
Of local passengers, 57.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 42.7 %.
In addition, there were 322,000 passengers departing the airport (-82.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 506,000 (-83.8 %).

856,000 passengers by ferries
There were 856,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 54 percent. Most arrivals were from Denmark (344,000 arrivals).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 1.4 billion SEK (-1.4 billion).
Registered January-September sales were 11.5 billion SEK and they decreased 11.4 billion euro from the previous year.
