Tahko: Tourism in a nutshell
19,300 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 19,300 bed nights were recorded in Tahko (-14.1 %), of which 16,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 14 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (2,300 nights).
16,600 nights (-17.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,700 nights (+20.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 43,500 bed nights (-3.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,900 (-16.1 %) for foreigners in Tahko, in total 53,300 (-5.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Tahko out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.
7,100 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.2 percent were domestic, and 9.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tahko on average 2.5 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 4.2 nights (-0.29).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased seven percent
A total of 292,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 81.9 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 32 percent
There was a total of 65,700 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.2 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 983,000 euro
Registered accommodation sales in March were 983,000 euro (-42,300).
Registered January-March sales were 2.5 million euro and they increased 63,400 euro from the previous year.
