Tampere: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 19 percent (February)
In February 2020, 94,400 bed nights were recorded in Tampere (+19.3 %), of which 81,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 13,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 20 percent and foreign bed nights increased 15 percent. In total, bed nights increased 19 percent from last year's February.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (2,700 nights).
51,000 nights (+7.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 43,300 nights (+37.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 154,000 bed nights (+22.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,700 (+14.0 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 181,000 (+21.5 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 5.1 percent (February)
Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 613,000 nights (+1.9 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Tampere out of total bed nights was 5.1 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.6 % and foreign bed nights 2.2 %.
64,300 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.8 percent were domestic, and 9.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.42).
10,500 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 15 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 78 congresses organized (-3.0) in 2019.
980 air travelers
The airport received a total of 980 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 91 percent.
Of local passengers, 63.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 36.9 %.
In addition, there were 820 passengers departing the airport (-92.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,800.

Accommodation sales 6.7 million euro (February)
Total accommodation sales in February were 6.7 million euro (+1.2 million). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 7.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.3 million euro (+959,000) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 459,000 euro (+210,000).
Total January-February sales were 13.3 million euro and they increased 2.3 million euro from the previous year.
