Tampere: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 12 percent (November)
In November 2019, 101,000 bed nights were recorded in Tampere (+12.5 %), of which 87,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 13,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and foreign bed nights decreased five percent. In total, bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's November.
Between January and November, 940,000 bed nights (+7.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 170,000 (-14.6 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 1.1 million (+3.6 %) nights.
49,100 nights (+12.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 51,800 nights (+12.0 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+4.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 453,000 nights (+3.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Tampere out of total bed nights was 6.5 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 7.9 % and foreign bed nights 3.0 %.
71,000 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.4 percent were domestic, and 9.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.04).
9,100 international congress guests in 2018
The number of international congress quests decreased nine percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 81 congresses organized (+16) in 2018.
8,100 air travelers (November)
The airport received a total of 8,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 24 percent.
Of local passengers, 59.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 40.2 %.
In addition, there were 8,400 passengers departing the airport (-21.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 16,500.

Accommodation sales 7.8 million euro (November)
Total accommodation sales in November were 7.8 million euro (+862,000). The share of Airbnb was 6.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 7.3 million euro (+570,000) and Airbnb sales 507,000 euro (+292,000).
Total January-November sales were 77.5 million euro and they increased 5.5 million euro from the previous year.
