Tampere: Tourism in a nutshell
56,500 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2020, 56,500 bed nights were recorded in Tampere (-44.0 %), of which 53,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 38 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 79 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 44 percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (490 nights).
34,400 nights (-29.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 22,100 nights (-57.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 651,000 bed nights (-30.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 56,600 (-66.6 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 708,000 (-36.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 97.0 percent were domestic, and 3.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.5 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.54).
270 air travelers
The airport received a total of 270 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 96 percent.
Of local passengers, 93.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 7.0 %.
In addition, there were 34 passengers departing the airport (-99.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 310 (-97.6 %).

Foreign visitors and their consumption (November)
The number of foreign visitors in November was 3,800 (-83.5 %). Out of them 730 were on a daytrip and 3,100 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and November was 69,700 (-68.4 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Tampere in November was 727,000 euro (192 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 694,000 euro and day visitors 33,300 euro. Between January and November the consumption was 14.1 million euro.

Accommodation sales 1.7 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 1.7 million euro (-3.1 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 11.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.5 million euro (-2.8 million) and non-registered sales 197,000 euro (-141,000).
Total January-December sales were 46.8 million euro and they decreased 36.8 million euro from the previous year.
