87,500 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 87,500 bed nights (+12.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Tampere in December 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 85 % and non-registered 15 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 1.3 million (+5.7 %). Share of registered was 87 % and non-registered 13 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 10 percent
In December 2018, 74,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Tampere (+10.2 %), of which 62,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 39 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.
45,500 nights (+16.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 28,800 nights (+1.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 934,000 registered bed nights (-0.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 211,000 (+11.8 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 1.1 million (+1.4 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased six percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. In Tampere, length of stay in December was on average 1.5 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (+1.0 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.0 %).
50,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.6 percent were domestic, and 10.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.4).

The number of international congress quests decreased nine percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 81 congresses organized (+16) in 2018.
9,100 air travelers
The airport received a total of 9,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 45 percent.
Of local passengers, 64.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 35.9 %.
In addition, there were 8,900 passengers departing the airport (+26.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 17,900 (+35.1 %).

Accommodation sales 4.6 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 4.6 million euro (+603,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 4.3 million euro (+500,000) and non-registered sales 314,000 euro (+103,000).
Total January-December sales were 77.2 million euro and they increased 5.9 million euro from the previous year.
