Tampere: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased two percent
In August 2019, 121,000 bed nights were recorded in Tampere (+1.9 %), of which 101,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 20,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased eight percent and foreign bed nights decreased 21 percent. In total, bed nights increased two percent from last year's August.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (2,200 nights).
76,200 nights (+8.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 45,000 nights (-7.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 681,000 bed nights (+5.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 119,000 (-19.7 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 801,000 (+1.1 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

79,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 87.4 percent were domestic, and 12.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.5 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.04).
10,500 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 15 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 78 congresses organized (-3.0) in 2019.
7,700 air travelers
The airport received a total of 7,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 60 percent.
Of local passengers, 57.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 42.3 %.
In addition, there were 8,500 passengers departing the airport (+50.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 16,200 (+54.5 %).

Accommodation sales 8.7 million euro
Total accommodation sales in August were 8.7 million euro (+685,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 9.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 7.9 million euro (+391,000) and non-registered sales 825,000 euro (+291,000).
Total January-August sales were 54.0 million euro and they increased 3.7 million euro from the previous year.

There were a total of 151,000 user sessions at Tampere marketing website in August. The share of visitors using a foreign language in their web browser was 23.9 percent out of all website visitors. The number of total user sessions increased 55 percent from last year's August.
