Tampere: Tourism in a nutshell
135,000 registered bed nights
In July 2020, 135,000 bed nights were recorded in Tampere (-10.7 %), of which 129,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased five percent and foreign bed nights decreased 62 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 11 percent from last year's July.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,200 nights).
116,000 nights (-6.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 18,600 nights (-31.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and July, 383,000 bed nights (-34.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 40,600 (-59.2 %) for foreigners in Tampere, in total 424,000 (-37.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.18).

The number of international congress quests increased 15 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 78 congresses organized (-3.0) in 2019.
200 air travelers
The airport received a total of 200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 97 percent.
Of local passengers, 100.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 0.0 %.
In addition, there were 250 passengers departing the airport (-96.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 450 (-96.8 %).

Accommodation sales 6.8 million euro
Total accommodation sales in July were 6.8 million euro (-1.1 million). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 10.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.4 million euro (-835,000) and non-registered sales 721,000 euro (+54,400).
Total January-July sales were 27.3 million euro and they decreased 17.9 million euro from the previous year.
