106,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 106,000 bed nights (+137.8 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Tampere in January 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 87 % and non-registered 13 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.

Forecast of bed nights in paid accommodation
In February 2023, the number of bed nights in paid accommodation is expected to increase by 73.0 % compared to the previous year in Tampere.
The number of bed nights is expected to increase by 19.1 % in the next six months compared to the previous year.
The forecast is based on a time series model (SARIMA), which is supplemented with exogenous (external) explanatory variables.
Registered bed nights increased 155 percent
In January 2023, 92,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Tampere (+154.7 %), of which 82,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 146 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 260 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 155 percent from last year's January.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,100 nights).
51,400 nights (+175.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 40,600 nights (+132.5 %) by business visitors.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Tampere, length of stay in January was on average 1.5 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-17.8 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights and foreigners 2.1 nights .
63,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 175 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.4 percent were domestic, and 7.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tampere on average 1.4 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.32).

The airport received a total of 6,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 690 percent.
Of local passengers, 99.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 0.1 %.

Accommodation sales 7.3 million euro
Total accommodation sales in January were 7.3 million euro (+4.8 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 7.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.7 million euro (+4.5 million) and non-registered sales 540,000 euro (+266,000).
