Registered bed nights increased 35 percent
In March 2018, 3,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Tornio (+35.0 %), of which 2,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 980 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 52 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 35 percent from last year's March.
800 nights (+249.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,800 nights (+15.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 5,600 registered bed nights (+36.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,800 (+101.8 %) for foreigners in Tornio, in total 9,400 (+56.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Tornio, length of stay in March was on average 1.4 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.3 nights (-0.5 %) and foreigners 1.4 nights (-6.8 %).
2,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 47 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.7 percent were domestic, and 26.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.3 nights (-0.14) and foreigners 1.4 nights (-0.06).
