Registered bed nights increased one percent
In May 2019, 2,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Tornio (+0.9 %), of which 1,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 29 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's May.
990 nights (+3.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,900 nights (-0.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 9,400 registered bed nights (+1.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,100 (+12.4 %) for foreigners in Tornio, in total 15,500 (+5.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Tornio, length of stay in May was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 1.8 nights (+2.1 %).
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.6 nights (+14.2 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+6.5 %).
1,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 65.4 percent were domestic, and 34.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.6 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.03).
