Registered bed nights increased one percent
In December 2019, 4,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Tornio (+1.2 %), of which 2,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 12 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's December.
1,900 nights (+95.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (-24.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 41,300 registered bed nights (+10.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,900 (+2.0 %) for foreigners in Tornio, in total 59,200 (+7.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 13 percent compared to earlier year. In Tornio, length of stay in December was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.6 nights (-2.9 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-4.6 %).
2,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 17 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 51.4 percent were domestic, and 48.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tornio on average 1.6 nights (-0.45) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.11).
