Registered bed nights increased 78 percent

In May 2021, 24,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Tromsø (+77.8 %), of which 23,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 790 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 94 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 49 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 78 percent from last year's May.

13,200 nights (+212.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,500 nights (+40.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 88,800 registered bed nights (-9.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 8,500 (-93.3 %) for foreigners in Tromsø, in total 97,300 (-56.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+51.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (+52.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 103,000 nights (+45.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Tromsø out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 19 percent compared to earlier year. In Tromsø, length of stay in May was on average 1.8 nights and in Norway 2.5 nights (-8.0 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tromsø on average 1.8 nights (-0.1 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+32.9 %).

13,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 119 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.2 percent were domestic, and 2.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tromsø on average 1.8 nights (-0.32) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-1.4).
