Registered bed nights increased 49 percent

In October 2021, 66,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Tromsø (+48.9 %), of which 53,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 31 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 260 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 49 percent from last year's October.

44,200 nights (+74.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 15,200 nights (+59.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 341,000 registered bed nights (+10.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 67,200 (-61.1 %) for foreigners in Tromsø, in total 409,000 (-15.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.8 percent

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+57.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.1 million nights (+50.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 306,000 nights (+120.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Tromsø out of total registered bed nights was 2.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.6 % and foreign bed nights 4.1 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Tromsø, length of stay in October was on average 1.8 nights and in Norway 1.9 nights (-5.9 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tromsø on average 1.7 nights (-4.6 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-15.0 %).

37,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 57 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.5 percent were domestic, and 16.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tromsø on average 1.7 nights (-0.14) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.06).

105,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 105,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 85 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.7 %.

In addition, there were 106,000 passengers departing the airport (+78.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 210,000 (+81.6 %).
