Tunturi-Lappi: Tourism in a nutshell
132,000 registered bed nights
In January 2019, 132,000 bed nights were recorded in Tunturi-Lappi (-1.4 %), of which 27,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 105,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased five percent and foreign bed nights decreased less than one percent. In total, bed nights decreased one percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (22,500 nights).
108,000 nights (-5.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 23,800 nights (+21.5 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Tunturi-Lappi out of total bed nights was 8.6 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.1 % and foreign bed nights 15.5 %.
26,300 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 30.4 percent were domestic, and 69.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Tunturi-Lappi on average 3.4 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 5.7 nights (+0.0).
