Turku Region: Tourism in a nutshell
50,600 registered bed nights
In January 2019, 50,600 bed nights were recorded in Turku Region (-9.6 %), of which 41,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and foreign bed nights decreased 19 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 10 percent from last year's January.
65 nights (-99.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 35 nights (-99.8 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 3.3 percent
Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Turku Region out of total bed nights was 3.3 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.
32,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.8 percent were domestic, and 14.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.03).
