Registered bed nights increased 199 percent

In April 2021, 20,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku Region (+198.9 %), of which 19,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 200 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 148 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 199 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (185 nights).

12,700 nights (+606.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,700 nights (+52.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 100,000 registered bed nights (-30.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,000 (-78.6 %) for foreigners in Turku Region, in total 105,000 (-36.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.6 percent

Total of 780,000 registered bed nights (+310.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 727,000 nights (+319.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 53,100 nights (+216.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Turku Region out of total registered bed nights was 2.6 % (-1.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.6 % and foreign bed nights 2.1 %.

12,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 360 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.6 percent were domestic, and 4.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.7 nights (-0.88) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-1.4).

Registered accommodation sales in April were 1.1 million euro (+746,000).

Registered January-April sales were 5.7 million euro and they decreased 4.6 million euro from the previous year.
