Registered bed nights increased 96 percent

In May 2022, 93,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku Region (+96.3 %), of which 83,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 86 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 280 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 96 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,700 nights).

61,700 nights (+79.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 31,900 nights (+139.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 309,000 registered bed nights (+112.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,200 (+262.2 %) for foreigners in Turku Region, in total 337,000 (+120.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 6.1 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Turku Region out of total registered bed nights was 6.1 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.8 % and foreign bed nights 3.1 %.

59,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 101 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.9 percent were domestic, and 8.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.11).

Registered accommodation sales in May were 6.0 million euro (+3.5 million).

Registered January-May sales were 20.0 million euro and they increased 11.8 million euro from the previous year.
