Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased three percent
In May 2019, 79,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku Region (+2.9 %), of which 65,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's May.
51,000 nights (-2.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 28,600 nights (+14.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 275,000 registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 58,300 (-8.7 %) for foreigners in Turku Region, in total 334,000 (-0.3 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Turku Region, length of stay in May was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 1.8 nights (+2.1 %).
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (-5.4 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+6.0 %).
50,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.4 percent were domestic, and 13.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.25).
