Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In February 2020, 67,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku Region (+9.2 %), of which 58,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,300 nights).

41,700 nights (+1.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 25,400 nights (+25.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 106,000 registered bed nights (+15.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,400 (-13.7 %) for foreigners in Turku Region, in total 123,000 (+10.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.6 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 611,000 nights (+1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Turku Region out of total registered bed nights was 3.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.7 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Turku Region, length of stay in February was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+2.0 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (+0.3 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+1.6 %).

42,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.5 percent were domestic, and 10.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku Region on average 1.5 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.02).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 4.2 million euro (+505,000).

Registered January-February sales were 7.7 million euro and they increased 1.1 million euro from the previous year.
