Turku: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 29 percent (November)
In November 2019, 71,400 bed nights were recorded in Turku (+28.9 %), of which 49,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 13 percent and foreign bed nights increased 88 percent. In total, bed nights increased 29 percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (3,800 nights).
Between January and November, 614,000 bed nights (+4.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 184,000 (+18.2 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 799,000 (+7.4 %) nights.
36,400 nights (+11.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 35,000 nights (+53.3 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 4.6 percent (November)
Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+4.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 453,000 nights (+3.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Turku out of total bed nights was 4.6 % (+0.9 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.5 % and foreign bed nights 4.9 %.
37,300 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.5 percent were domestic, and 14.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.5 nights (+0.09) and foreigners 4.1 nights (+1.9).
5,300 international congress guests in 2018
The number of international congress quests increased five percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 57 congresses organized (+10) in 2018.
18,700 air travelers (November)
The airport received a total of 18,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 16 percent.
Of local passengers, 76.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 23.8 %.
In addition, there were 19,200 passengers departing the airport (+13.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 37,900.

93,000 passengers by ferries (November)
There were 93,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased two percent. The number of departing passengers was 90,600 (-2.2 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (93,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 5.2 million euro (November)
Total accommodation sales in November were 5.2 million euro (+1.4 million). The share of Airbnb was 7.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 4.8 million euro (+1.2 million) and Airbnb sales 382,000 euro (+200,000).
Total January-November sales were 53.5 million euro and they increased 6.1 million euro from the previous year.
