22,900 registered bed nights
In January 2021, 22,900 bed nights were recorded in Turku (-50.5 %), of which 21,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 45 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 79 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 51 percent from last year's January.
16,800 nights (-38.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,100 nights (-67.6 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 50 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 95.2 percent were domestic, and 4.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.5 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.1).
1,200 air travelers
The airport received a total of 1,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 92 percent.
Of local passengers, 85.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 14.4 %.
In addition, there were 510 passengers departing the airport (-96.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,700 (-94.1 %).

There were 27,800 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 72 percent. The number of departing passengers was 21,700 (-77.1 %).

Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in January was 3,000 (-80.2 %). Out of them 980 were on a daytrip and 2,100 stayed at least for one night.
Total consumption of these visitors in Turku in January was 458,000 euro (151 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 408,000 euro and day visitors 50,000 euro.

Accommodation sales 1.4 million euro
Total accommodation sales in January were 1.4 million euro (-1.8 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 11.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.2 million euro (-1.7 million) and non-registered sales 166,000 euro (-64,600).
