Turku: Tourism in a nutshell
8,500 registered bed nights (May)
In May 2020, 8,500 bed nights were recorded in Turku (-86.9 %), of which 8,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 530 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 85 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 96 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 87 percent from last year's May.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (85 nights).
4,000 nights (-90.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,500 nights (-80.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 119,000 bed nights (-46.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 20,300 (-61.3 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 139,000 (-49.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 90 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 95.0 percent were domestic, and 5.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.9 nights (+0.5) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.35).
7,200 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 38 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 52 congresses organized (-5.0) in 2019.
220 air travelers (May)
The airport received a total of 220 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 99 percent.
Of local passengers, 4.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 95.5 %.
In addition, there were 210 passengers departing the airport (-98.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 430 (-98.9 %).
