112,000 registered bed nights (July)

In July 2020, 112,000 bed nights were recorded in Turku (-14.9 %), of which 108,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased two percent and foreign bed nights decreased 81 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 15 percent from last year's July.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (750 nights).

96,600 nights (-10.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 15,100 nights (-35.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 270,000 bed nights (-33.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,900 (-70.9 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 296,000 (-40.1 %) nights.

Market share 4.4 percent (July)

Total of 2.6 million bed nights (-21.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-2.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 141,000 nights (-82.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Turku out of total bed nights was 4.4 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.4 % and foreign bed nights 3.0 %.

76,500 tourists arrived to accommodation (July)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 97.2 percent were domestic, and 2.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.4 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.23).

7,200 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests increased 38 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 52 congresses organized (-5.0) in 2019.

5,200 air travelers

The airport received a total of 5,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 77 percent.

Of local passengers, 88.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 11.7 %.

In addition, there were 4,200 passengers departing the airport (-81.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 9,400 (-79.6 %).

There were 46,400 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 74 percent. The number of departing passengers was 41,900 (-75.6 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (38,800 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 6.6 million euro (July)

Total accommodation sales in July were 6.6 million euro (-1.5 million). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 13.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 5.5 million euro (-1.9 million) and non-registered sales 868,000 euro (+144,000).

Total January-July sales were 19.4 million euro and they decreased 13.2 million euro from the previous year.
