Registered bed nights increased 330 percent (May)
In May 2021, 34,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku (+334.2 %), of which 32,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 330 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 360 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 330 percent from last year's May.
23,500 nights (+595.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,000 nights (+140.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 106,000 registered bed nights (-11.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,000 (-65.3 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 113,000 (-19.4 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 450 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.0 percent were domestic, and 5.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.5 nights (-0.41) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.35).
2,600 air travelers
The airport received a total of 2,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 179 percent.
Of local passengers, 100.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 0.0 %.
In addition, there were 2,600 passengers departing the airport (+140.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,200 (+158.7 %).

There were 20,700 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 162 percent. The number of departing passengers was 19,700 (+202.6 %).

Foreign visitors and their consumption (May)
The number of foreign visitors in May was 3,700 (+438.0 %). Out of them 1,600 were on a daytrip and 2,200 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and May was 11,400 (-70.5 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Turku in May was 513,000 euro (137 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 433,000 euro and day visitors 79,400 euro. Between January and May the consumption was 1.6 million euro.
