137,000 bed nights in paid accommodation (August)
Total of 137,000 bed nights (+26.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Turku in August 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 780,000 (+44.4 %). Share of registered was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 22 percent (August)
In August 2022, 111,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku (+22.1 %), of which 94,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 16,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 111 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 22 percent from last year's August.
78,000 nights (+19.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 33,400 nights (+29.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 585,000 registered bed nights (+38.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 73,700 (+214.3 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 659,000 (+48.1 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.9 percent were domestic, and 13.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.6 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.01).
7,500 air travelers (August)
The airport received a total of 7,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 87 percent.
Of local passengers, 92.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 7.8 %.
In addition, there were 6,300 passengers departing the airport (+125.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 13,800 (+102.4 %).

175,000 passengers by ferries (July)
There were 175,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 118 percent. The number of departing passengers was 163,000 (+114.8 %).

Foreign visitors and their consumption (August)
The number of foreign visitors in August was 28,200 (+111.2 %). Out of them 10,000 were on a daytrip and 18,200 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and August was 129,000 (+236.9 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Turku in August was 4.1 million euro (146 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 3.6 million euro and day visitors 511,000 euro. Between January and August the consumption was 18.3 million euro.

Accommodation sales 8.5 million euro (August)
Total accommodation sales in August were 8.5 million euro (+2.4 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 11.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 7.5 million euro (+2.0 million) and non-registered sales 1.0 million euro (+414,000).
Total January-August sales were 46.0 million euro and they increased 17.1 million euro from the previous year.

Visits to marketing website
There were a total of 43,200 user sessions at Turku marketing website in September. The share of visitors using a foreign language in their web browser was 23.4 percent out of all website visitors. The number of total user sessions increased 30 percent from last year's September.
