Turku: Tourism in a nutshell
15,700 registered bed nights (March)
In March 2021, 15,700 bed nights were recorded in Turku (-43.7 %), of which 14,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 37 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 77 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 44 percent from last year's March.
8,000 nights (-46.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,700 nights (-40.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 61,700 bed nights (-42.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,700 (-81.0 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 65,400 (-48.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

9,100 tourists arrived to accommodation (March)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 46 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.5 percent were domestic, and 3.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.7 nights (+0.1) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.85).
620 air travelers
The airport received a total of 620 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 198 percent.
Of local passengers, 72.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 27.5 %.
In addition, there were 530 passengers departing the airport (+184.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,100 (+191.6 %).

15,900 passengers by ferries (February)
There were 15,900 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 83 percent. The number of departing passengers was 15,500 (-83.7 %).

Foreign visitors and their consumption (March)
The number of foreign visitors in March was 1,300 (-82.6 %). Out of them 530 were on a daytrip and 770 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and March was 6,300 (-83.4 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Turku in March was 181,000 euro (139 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 154,000 euro and day visitors 27,000 euro. Between January and March the consumption was 907,000 euro.

Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in April were 1.2 million euro (+913,000).
Registered January-April sales were 4.8 million euro and they decreased 3.8 million euro from the previous year.
