58,500 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 58,500 bed nights (+3.8 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Turku in December 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 80 % and non-registered 20 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 941,000 (+2.9 %). Share of registered was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
46,700 registered bed nights
In December 2018, 46,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku (-2.0 %), of which 39,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased two percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased two percent from last year's December.
33,800 nights (+4.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,900 nights (-16.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 627,000 registered bed nights (-1.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 163,000 (-5.5 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 790,000 (-2.6 %) registered nights.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Turku, length of stay in December was on average 1.5 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.4 nights (+0.9 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-5.6 %).
32,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.3 percent were domestic, and 12.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.4 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.09).
5,300 international congress guests in 2018
The number of international congress quests increased five percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 57 congresses organized (+10.0) in 2018.
13,900 air travelers
The airport received a total of 13,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 15 percent.
Of local passengers, 75.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 24.8 %.
In addition, there were 14,900 passengers departing the airport (+10.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 28,800 (+12.7 %).

107,000 passengers by ferries
There were 107,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased two percent. The number of departing passengers was 104,000 (+1.6 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (106,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 3.0 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 3.0 million euro (+299,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 12.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.7 million euro (+125,000) and non-registered sales 381,000 euro (+174,000).
Total January-December sales were 51.3 million euro and they increased 1.7 million euro from the previous year.
