Turku: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased three percent
In June 2019, 87,100 bed nights were recorded in Turku (+3.4 %), of which 68,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 18,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased four percent and foreign bed nights increased one percent. In total, bed nights increased three percent from last year's June.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (3,400 nights).
66,500 nights (+16.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,700 nights (-24.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and June, 293,000 bed nights (+4.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 70,900 (-2.7 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 364,000 (+2.6 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

51,700 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 81.9 percent were domestic, and 18.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.6 nights (-0.08) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.14).
7,200 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 38 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 52 congresses organized (-5.0) in 2019.
19,300 air travelers
The airport received a total of 19,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 29 percent.
Of local passengers, 76.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 23.6 %.
In addition, there were 20,100 passengers departing the airport (+32.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 39,400 (+30.8 %).

136,000 passengers by ferries
There were 136,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased less than one percent. The number of departing passengers was 129,000 (-0.3 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (136,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 5.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in June were 5.9 million euro (+267,000).
Total January-June sales were 24.4 million euro and they increased 1.1 million euro from the previous year.
