88,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 88,000 bed nights (+37.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Turku in October 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 89 % and non-registered 11 %.
Between January and October, the number of paid bed nights was 693,000 (+17.8 %). Share of registered was 83 % and non-registered 17 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 52 percent
In October 2021, 78,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Turku (+51.9 %), of which 69,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 46 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 115 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 52 percent from last year's October.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,400 nights).
55,600 nights (+60.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 22,400 nights (+35.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 538,000 registered bed nights (+23.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 39,000 (-1.3 %) for foreigners in Turku, in total 577,000 (+21.7 %) registered nights.

50,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.2 percent were domestic, and 8.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Turku on average 1.5 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-1.4).
3,200 air travelers
The airport received a total of 3,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 50 percent.
Of local passengers, 93.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 6.6 %.
In addition, there were 3,500 passengers departing the airport (+60.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 6,700 (+55.4 %).

81,900 passengers by ferries
There were 81,900 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 195 percent. The number of departing passengers was 80,300 (+201.3 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (81,900 arrivals).

Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in October was 12,800 (+264.2 %). Out of them 4,400 were on a daytrip and 8,400 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and October was 59,700 (-6.3 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Turku in October was 1.9 million euro (148 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.7 million euro and day visitors 226,000 euro. Between January and October the consumption was 8.7 million euro.

Accommodation sales 5.1 million euro
Total accommodation sales in October were 5.1 million euro (+1.7 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 4.8 million euro (+2.1 million) and non-registered sales 316,000 euro (-388,000).
Total January-October sales were 37.8 million euro and they increased 7.1 million euro from the previous year.

There were a total of 38,500 user sessions at Turku marketing website in October. The share of visitors using a foreign language in their web browser was 17.3 percent out of all website visitors. The number of total user sessions increased 58 percent from last year's October.
