Registered bed nights increased 37 percent

In September 2021, 62,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+36.7 %), of which 50,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 310 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 37 percent from last year's September.

20,500 rooms (+32.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,300 rooms (+23.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 374,000 registered bed nights (+6.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 61,100 (+128.0 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 435,000 (+14.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.6 %.

27,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.8 percent were domestic, and 13.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 2.1 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+1.0).

36,700 air travelers

The airport received a total of 36,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 65 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.1 %.

In addition, there were 35,300 passengers departing the airport (+60.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 37,400 (+65.7 %).
