Registered bed nights increased 53 percent

In April 2021, 28,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+53.4 %), of which 25,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 44 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 350 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 53 percent from last year's April.

9,000 rooms (+50.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,600 rooms (+49.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 95,800 registered bed nights (-31.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 8,900 (-41.8 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 105,000 (-32.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 2.6 million registered bed nights (+102.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.3 million nights (+103.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (+90.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

12,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 75 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.6 percent were domestic, and 6.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 2.2 nights (-0.38) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+0.76).

The airport received a total of 4,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 260 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.
