Registered bed nights increased 95 percent

In December 2021, 47,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+94.5 %), of which 38,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 75 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 290 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 95 percent from last year's December.

15,200 rooms (+82.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,800 rooms (+95.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 522,000 registered bed nights (+16.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 94,100 (+172.0 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 617,000 (+27.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.4 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.4 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.6 %.

25,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 130 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.7 percent were domestic, and 11.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 1.7 nights (-0.47) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+0.62).

21,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 21,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 370 percent.

Of local passengers, 3.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 96.4 %.

In addition, there were 23,100 passengers departing the airport (+327.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 44,600 (+345.2 %).

Registered January-December sales were 327.7 million SEK and they increased 75.3 million euro from the previous year.
