Registered bed nights increased 76 percent

In May 2022, 70,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+76.4 %), of which 58,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 63 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 192 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 76 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (2,500 nights).

18,800 rooms (+53.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 27,700 rooms (+120.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 224,000 registered bed nights (+70.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 61,200 (+368.8 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 285,000 (+97.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

37,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 107 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.7 percent were domestic, and 15.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 1.9 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-2.0).

32,200 air travelers

The airport received a total of 32,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 400 percent.

Of local passengers, 3.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 96.9 %.

In addition, there were 32,500 passengers departing the airport (+408.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 64,700 (+404.2 %).
