31,400 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 31,400 bed nights were recorded in Umeå (-42.1 %), of which 29,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 38 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 71 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 42 percent from last year's March.

10,000 rooms (-37.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,500 rooms (-44.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 122,000 bed nights (-8.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,800 (-23.9 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 136,000 (-10.2 %) nights.

Total of 2.8 million bed nights (-37.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

16,100 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 49 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 92.3 percent were domestic, and 7.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 2.0 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.14).

18,900 air travelers

The airport received a total of 18,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 54 percent.

Of local passengers, 6.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 93.3 %.

In addition, there were 17,000 passengers departing the airport (-59.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 35,900 (-56.6 %).
