45,800 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 45,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (-16.9 %), of which 42,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 17 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (450 nights).

15,500 rooms (-1.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 16,500 rooms (-26.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 352,000 registered bed nights (-21.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,800 (-76.2 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 379,000 (-32.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

22,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 29 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.2 percent were domestic, and 5.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 2.0 nights (+0.3) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.42).

11,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 11,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 75 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 11,300 passengers departing the airport (-74.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 22,300 (-74.6 %).
