55,100 registered bed nights

In September 2019, 55,100 bed nights were recorded in Umeå (-1.1 %), of which 47,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased two percent and foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, bed nights decreased one percent from last year's September.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (1,600 nights).

15,700 rooms (+2.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 22,300 rooms (+12.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 449,000 bed nights (+9.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 113,000 (+0.7 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 562,000 (+7.8 %) nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 4.5 million bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total bed nights was 1.2 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

31,500 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 87.1 percent were domestic, and 12.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 1.7 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.16).

43,900 air travelers

The airport received a total of 43,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased two percent.

Of local passengers, 11.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 88.4 %.

In addition, there were 44,000 passengers departing the airport (-4.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 88,000 (-3.3 %).
