Registered bed nights increased 21 percent

In June 2019, 69,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+21.1 %), of which 52,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 17,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 20 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (4,200 nights).

20,400 rooms (+28.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 17,700 rooms (+30.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 278,000 registered bed nights (+7.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 52,600 (+6.8 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 330,000 (+7.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

40,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.6 percent were domestic, and 26.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 1.8 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+0.19).

42,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 42,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased two percent.

Of local passengers, 11.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 88.8 %.

In addition, there were 43,700 passengers departing the airport (-1.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 86,200 (-1.6 %).
