Registered bed nights increased 51 percent

In June 2022, 68,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Umeå (+51.3 %), of which 51,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 16,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 28 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 240 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 51 percent from last year's June.

19,000 rooms (+56.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 19,100 rooms (+44.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 276,000 registered bed nights (+60.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 78,000 (+333.7 %) for foreigners in Umeå, in total 353,000 (+86.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 6.9 million registered bed nights (+39.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.2 million nights (+17.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+259.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Umeå out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

33,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 77 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.7 percent were domestic, and 22.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Umeå on average 2.0 nights (-0.31) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-1.4).

The airport received a total of 27,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 183 percent.

Of local passengers, 5.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 94.4 %.

In addition, there were 30,600 passengers departing the airport (+186.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 58,100 (+184.9 %).

Accommodation sales 41.5 million crowns

Total accommodation sales in June were 41.5 million crowns (+21.0 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 4.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 39.7 million crowns (+19.7 million) and non-registered sales 1.8 million crowns (+1.3 million).

Total January-June sales were 221.3 million crowns and they increased 128.0 million crowns from the previous year.
