8,300 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 8,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Upper Savonia (-33.7 %), of which 7,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 530 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 63 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 34 percent from last year's August.

5,600 nights (-25.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,700 nights (-45.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 42,500 registered bed nights (-38.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,000 (-49.9 %) for foreigners in Upper Savonia, in total 47,500 (-40.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.5 percent

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (-30.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (-6.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 149,000 nights (-81.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Upper Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

5,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 26 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Upper Savonia on average 1.6 nights (-0.22) and foreigners 5.5 nights (+3.1).
