Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In May 2019, 116,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uppsala County (+7.0 %), of which 101,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 15,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 21 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (2,500 nights).

23,300 rooms (+27.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 35,700 rooms (+19.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 334,000 registered bed nights (+1.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 47,900 (+7.3 %) for foreigners in Uppsala County, in total 382,000 (+2.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.2 percent

Total of 5.3 million registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.1 million nights (+6.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.3 million nights (-5.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uppsala County out of total registered bed nights was 2.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Uppsala County, length of stay in May was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 1.8 nights (-5.1 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala County on average 1.7 nights (-1.4 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.8 %).

66,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.5 percent were domestic, and 9.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala County on average 1.7 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.25).
