Registered bed nights increased 139 percent

In May 2022, 69,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Uppsala (+138.8 %), of which 56,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 112 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 470 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 139 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,500 nights).

22,300 rooms (+121.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 21,900 rooms (+203.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 210,000 registered bed nights (+93.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 37,000 (+298.1 %) for foreigners in Uppsala, in total 247,000 (+109.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.3 percent

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uppsala out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

36,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 151 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.6 percent were domestic, and 17.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala on average 1.9 nights (-0.08) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.55).
