Paid bed nights

21,500 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 21,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Uppsala (-67.2 %), of which 20,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 61 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 93 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 67 percent from last year's May.

6,500 rooms (-65.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,600 rooms (-83.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 134,000 registered bed nights (-35.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,300 (-55.3 %) for foreigners in Uppsala, in total 152,000 (-38.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.2 million registered bed nights (-58.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.1 million nights (-49.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 176,000 nights (-86.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uppsala out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased 29 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 29 percent compared to earlier year. In Uppsala, length of stay in May was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (+30.7 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala on average 2.3 nights (+7.7 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-8.0 %).

9,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 75 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.6 percent were domestic, and 3.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala on average 2.3 nights (+0.6) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.15).
