Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 35 percent

In May 2021, 29,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uppsala (+34.7 %), of which 26,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 173 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 35 percent from last year's May.

10,100 rooms (+55.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,400 rooms (+105.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 109,000 registered bed nights (-18.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,300 (-49.2 %) for foreigners in Uppsala, in total 118,000 (-22.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uppsala out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay was 2.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Uppsala, length of stay in May was on average 2.2 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala on average 2.2 nights (+13.0 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+4.1 %).

13,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 39 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.1 percent were domestic, and 7.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uppsala on average 2.2 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.36).
