665,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 665,000 bed nights (+131.5 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Uusimaa in May 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Between January and May, the number of paid bed nights was 2.2 million (+111.3 %). Share of registered was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 155 percent
In May 2022, 547,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uusimaa (+155.4 %), of which 350,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 197,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 105 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 350 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 155 percent from last year's May.
276,000 nights (+214.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 271,000 nights (+114.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 1.2 million registered bed nights (+103.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 583,000 (+307.9 %) for foreigners in Uusimaa, in total 1.8 million (+142.3 %) registered nights.

308,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 220 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 70.6 percent were domestic, and 29.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 1.6 nights (-0.36) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-1.8).

711,000 air travelers (Helsinki)
The airport received a total of 711,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 810 percent. 139,000 travelers were transferring planes (+881.6 %) and 572,000 were local passengers (+792.4 %).
Of local passengers, 88.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 11.8 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 83.7 %.
In addition, there were 427,000 passengers departing the airport (+832.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.1 million (+817.2 %).

311,000 passengers by ferries (April, Helsinki)
There were 311,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 400 percent. The number of departing passengers was 316,000 (+381.1 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (245,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 47.3 million euro
Total accommodation sales in May were 47.3 million euro (+31.9 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 9.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 42.9 million euro (+30.5 million) and non-registered sales 4.3 million euro (+1.4 million).
Total January-May sales were 138.4 million euro and they increased 85.0 million euro from the previous year.
