110,000 registered bed nights (March)

In March 2021, 110,000 bed nights were recorded in Uusimaa (-50.7 %), of which 88,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 20,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 37 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 74 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 51 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (4,200 nights).

41,700 nights (-54.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 67,800 nights (-47.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 328,000 bed nights (-53.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 66,700 (-85.9 %) for foreigners in Uusimaa, in total 394,000 (-66.6 %) nights.

Market share 12.7 percent (March)

Total of 863,000 bed nights (-13.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 816,000 nights (+11.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 47,500 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uusimaa out of total bed nights was 12.7 % (-9.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 10.9 % and foreign bed nights 43.6 %.

48,800 tourists arrived to accommodation (March)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 84.4 percent were domestic, and 15.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 2.2 nights (+0.33) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+0.78).

58,500 air travelers (Helsinki)

The airport received a total of 58,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 360 percent. 12,900 travelers were transferring planes (+269.9 %) and 45,600 were local passengers (+388.7 %).

Of local passengers, 58.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 41.9 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 89.8 %.

In addition, there were 41,700 passengers departing the airport (+742.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 100,000 (+463.8 %).

48,700 passengers by ferries (February, Helsinki)

There were 48,700 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased 87 percent. The number of departing passengers was 55,200 (-85.4 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (46,800 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 9.0 million euro (March)

Total accommodation sales in March were 9.0 million euro (-9.5 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 34.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 5.9 million euro (-10.1 million) and non-registered sales 3.1 million euro (+569,000).

Total January-March sales were 27.6 million euro and they decreased 64.3 million euro from the previous year.
