Registered bed nights increased 21 percent (October)

In October 2022, 554,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uusimaa (+20.7 %), of which 370,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 184,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 57 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (16,900 nights).

275,000 nights (+7.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 279,000 nights (+38.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 3.2 million registered bed nights (+42.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.7 million (+194.1 %) for foreigners in Uusimaa, in total 5.0 million (+74.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 33.1 percent (October)

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+0.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (-6.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 305,000 nights (+52.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Uusimaa out of total registered bed nights was 33.1 % (+5.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 27.1 % and foreign bed nights 60.3 %.

325,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (October)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 72.3 percent were domestic, and 27.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 1.6 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.25).

690,000 air travelers (Helsinki)

The airport received a total of 690,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 58 percent. 163,000 travelers were transferring planes (+92.0 %) and 528,000 were local passengers (+50.2 %).

Of local passengers, 85.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 14.5 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 81.4 %.

In addition, there were 365,000 passengers departing the airport (+37.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.1 million (+50.5 %).

327,000 passengers by ferries (September, Helsinki)

There were 327,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 57 percent. The number of departing passengers was 344,000 (+60.6 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (243,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 46.0 million euro (October)

Total accommodation sales in October were 46.0 million euro (+15.7 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 41.3 million euro (+13.6 million) and non-registered sales 4.7 million euro (+2.1 million).

Total January-October sales were 393.0 million euro and they increased 208.0 million euro from the previous year.
