573,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 573,000 bed nights (+11.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Uusimaa in March 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 81 % and non-registered 19 %.
Between January and March, the number of paid bed nights was 1.6 million (+13.9 %). Share of registered was 81 % and non-registered 19 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased one percent
In March 2018, 462,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Uusimaa (+1.3 %), of which 254,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 208,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's March.
209,000 nights (+5.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 253,000 nights (-1.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 728,000 registered bed nights (+0.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 609,000 (+10.4 %) for foreigners in Uusimaa, in total 1.3 million (+4.6 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased two percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. In Uusimaa, length of stay in March was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 1.6 nights (+1.5 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+1.3 %).
274,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.8 percent were domestic, and 40.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Uusimaa on average 1.6 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.0).

1.2 million air travelers (Helsinki)
The airport received a total of 1.2 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 17 percent. 307,000 travelers were transferring planes (+31.4 %) and 847,000 were local passengers (+12.2 %).
Of local passengers, 81.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 18.6 %. For transferring passengers, the share of travelers arriving from abroad was 79.4 %.
In addition, there were 544,000 passengers departing the airport (+7.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.7 million (+13.5 %).

394,000 passengers by ferries (Helsinki)
There were 394,000 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port decreased four percent. The number of departing passengers was 423,000 (+1.0 %). Most arrivals were from Estonia (295,000 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 34.2 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 34.2 million euro (-751,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 8.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 31.4 million euro (-2.3 million) and non-registered sales 2.8 million euro (+1.5 million).
Total January-March sales were 98.6 million euro and they increased 6.1 million euro from the previous year.
