Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In October 2019, 27,500 bed nights were recorded in Vaasa Region (+7.1 %), of which 22,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and foreign bed nights decreased eight percent. In total, bed nights increased seven percent from last year's October.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,300 nights).

11,300 nights (+0.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,200 nights (+12.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 235,000 bed nights (+10.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 61,700 (-5.4 %) for foreigners in Vaasa Region, in total 296,000 (+6.4 %) nights.

Market share 1.6 percent

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vaasa Region out of total bed nights was 1.6 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

15,900 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.9 percent were domestic, and 14.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vaasa Region on average 1.6 nights (+0.16) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.08).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 1.8 million euro (+145,000).

Registered January-October sales were 15.9 million euro and they decreased 648,000 euro from the previous year.
