Registered bed nights increased 82 percent

In December 2021, 15,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Vaasa Region (+82.3 %), of which 14,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 76 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 171 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 82 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (400 nights).

7,400 nights (+83.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,300 nights (+81.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 286,000 registered bed nights (+43.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 21,500 (+25.1 %) for foreigners in Vaasa Region, in total 307,000 (+41.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+109.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.0 million nights (+44.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 593,000 nights (+823.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vaasa Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

9,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 104 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.7 percent were domestic, and 7.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vaasa Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.2) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.53).
