Registered bed nights increased one percent (April)

In April 2023, 24,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Vaasa Region (+0.5 %), of which 20,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 43 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,300 nights).

10,900 nights (-20.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,600 nights (+27.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 72,800 registered bed nights (+15.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,800 (+75.9 %) for foreigners in Vaasa Region, in total 87,700 (+22.9 %) registered nights.

In June 2023, the number of bed nights in paid accommodation is expected to increase by 1.7 % compared to the previous year.

The number of bed nights is expected to increase by 8.7 % in the next six months compared to the previous year.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vaasa Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

13,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (April)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.5 percent were domestic, and 12.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vaasa Region on average 1.7 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.14).

Accommodation sales 1.7 million euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 1.7 million euro (+320,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.6 million euro (+305,000) and non-registered sales 120,000 euro (+14,200).

Total January-April sales were 6.7 million euro and they increased 2.1 million euro from the previous year.
