20,400 registered bed nights (April)

In April 2023, 20,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Vaasa (+0.5 %), of which 16,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 42 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased less than one percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,200 nights).

8,100 nights (-23.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,400 nights (+25.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 61,400 registered bed nights (+16.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,500 (+72.8 %) for foreigners in Vaasa, in total 74,900 (+24.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vaasa out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 1.3 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.5 percent were domestic, and 13.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vaasa on average 1.7 nights (+0.1) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.16).

The airport received a total of 7,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 23 percent.

Of local passengers, 38.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 61.7 %.

In addition, there were 7,700 passengers departing the airport (+17.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 15,400 (+20.2 %).

There were 9,200 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 24 percent. The number of departing passengers was 8,400 (+15.9 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (9,200 arrivals).

Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 1.5 million euro (+263,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.4 million euro (+262,000) and non-registered sales 102,000 euro (+1,300).

Total January-April sales were 6.0 million euro and they increased 1.9 million euro from the previous year.
