Vaasa: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 11 percent
In June 2019, 27,400 bed nights were recorded in Vaasa (+11.3 %), of which 20,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and foreign bed nights increased 13 percent. In total, bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's June.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (2,500 nights).
17,900 nights (+27.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,500 nights (-10.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and June, 87,900 bed nights (+3.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,700 (-8.6 %) for foreigners in Vaasa, in total 113,000 (+0.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 79.0 percent were domestic, and 21.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vaasa on average 1.4 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.05).
6,300 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 90 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 39 congresses organized (+6.0) in 2019.
13,300 air travelers
The airport received a total of 13,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased six percent.
Of local passengers, 46.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 53.9 %.
In addition, there were 12,900 passengers departing the airport (-4.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 26,200 (-5.2 %).

There were 13,700 arriving passengers by ferries. In total, the arrivals to port increased 27 percent. The number of departing passengers was 14,000 (+16.9 %). Most arrivals were from Sweden (13,700 arrivals).

Registered January-June sales were 7.5 million euro and they decreased 373,000 euro from the previous year.
