Vantaa: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased five percent
In March 2019, 93,600 bed nights were recorded in Vantaa (+5.1 %), of which 65,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 28,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 11 percent. In total, bed nights increased five percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (2,100 nights).
47,300 nights (+30.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 46,300 nights (-12.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 183,000 bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 87,000 (-5.3 %) for foreigners in Vantaa, in total 270,000 (+6.5 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Vantaa out of total bed nights was 5.0 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.1 % and foreign bed nights 5.0 %.
63,900 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 66.4 percent were domestic, and 33.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vantaa on average 1.5 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.3 nights (-0.12).

Accommodation sales 7.2 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 7.2 million euro (+947,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 5.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.8 million euro (+838,000) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 397,000 euro (+109,000).
Total January-March sales were 20.1 million euro and they increased 2.5 million euro from the previous year.
