Registered bed nights increased four percent

In January 2019, 88,200 bed nights were recorded in Vantaa (+4.4 %), of which 57,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 30,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased eight percent and foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, bed nights increased four percent from last year's January.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (3,400 nights).

43,600 nights (+18.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 44,600 nights (-6.6 %) by business visitors.

Market share 5.7 percent

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vantaa out of total bed nights was 5.7 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.6 % and foreign bed nights 4.6 %.

62,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 63.3 percent were domestic, and 36.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vantaa on average 1.5 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 1.4 nights (0.0).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Accommodation sales 6.5 million euro

Total accommodation sales in January were 6.5 million euro (+768,000). The share of Airbnb was 3.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 6.3 million euro (+701,000) and Airbnb sales 205,000 euro (+66,900).
