Registered bed nights increased five percent

In April 2019, 89,800 bed nights were recorded in Vantaa (+5.0 %), of which 62,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 27,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and foreign bed nights decreased seven percent. In total, bed nights increased five percent from last year's April.

44,800 nights (+32.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 45,000 nights (-12.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 245,000 bed nights (+12.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 114,000 (-5.7 %) for foreigners in Vantaa, in total 359,000 (+6.1 %) nights.

Market share 5.7 percent

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+2.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+4.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 356,000 nights (-3.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vantaa out of total bed nights was 5.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.1 % and foreign bed nights 7.7 %.

65,400 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 68.3 percent were domestic, and 31.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vantaa on average 1.4 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 1.3 nights (-0.22).

Registered accommodation sales in April were 6.0 million euro (+99,300).

Registered January-April sales were 24.8 million euro and they increased 2.1 million euro from the previous year.
