Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In September 2020, 37,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Varberg (+10.9 %), of which 36,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 47 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's September.

7,500 rooms (+31.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,500 rooms (-26.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 678,000 registered bed nights (-7.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,100 (-68.6 %) for foreigners in Varberg, in total 696,000 (-12.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Varberg out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

22,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.7 percent were domestic, and 4.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 1.7 nights (+0.14) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.01).
