Registered bed nights increased 16 percent

In January 2020, 21,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Varberg (+15.6 %), of which 19,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 112 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 16 percent from last year's January.

5,600 rooms (+26.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,900 rooms (+1.5 %) by business visitors.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.1 million nights (+2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 797,000 nights (-0.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Varberg out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Varberg, length of stay in January was on average 1.6 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-2.0 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 1.5 nights and foreigners 2.5 nights .

13,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 21 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.6 percent were domestic, and 6.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 1.5 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.91).
