72,200 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 72,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Varberg (-20.4 %), of which 70,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 17 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 67 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 20 percent from last year's May.

4,200 rooms (-32.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 5,100 rooms (-49.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 146,000 registered bed nights (-18.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 8,500 (-32.1 %) for foreigners in Varberg, in total 154,000 (-19.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.2 million registered bed nights (-58.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.1 million nights (-49.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 176,000 nights (-86.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Varberg out of total registered bed nights was 3.2 % (+1.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased 22 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. In Varberg, length of stay in May was on average 2.4 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (+30.7 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 2.4 nights (+8.1 %) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+17.0 %).

30,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 35 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.8 percent were domestic, and 2.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 2.4 nights (+0.46) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+0.11).
