Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In April 2022, 40,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Varberg (+17.4 %), of which 36,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 174 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Slovenia (630 nights).

9,300 rooms (+68.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,800 rooms (+33.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 112,000 registered bed nights (+22.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,400 (+197.1 %) for foreigners in Varberg, in total 121,000 (+27.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.2 million registered bed nights (+64.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+46.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 791,000 nights (+260.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Varberg out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Varberg, length of stay in April was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-23.8 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 1.6 nights (-4.0 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+20.1 %).

23,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 28 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.1 percent were domestic, and 6.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varberg on average 1.6 nights (-0.17) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.21).
