Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 17 percent
In March 2023, 10,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Varkaus Region (+16.8 %), of which 9,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 380 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 17 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 24 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (70 nights).
3,000 nights (-33.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,100 nights (+72.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 26,200 registered bed nights (+33.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,100 (+80.0 %) for foreigners in Varkaus Region, in total 27,400 (+35.1 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 3.0 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Varkaus Region, length of stay in March was on average 3.0 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-6.0 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varkaus Region on average 3.0 nights (-0.9 %) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+30.6 %).
3,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.4 percent were domestic, and 3.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varkaus Region on average 3.0 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+0.51).
