Registered bed nights increased 56 percent
In May 2022, 8,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Varkaus Region (+56.1 %), of which 8,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 230 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 55 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 138 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 56 percent from last year's May.
3,800 nights (+83.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,700 nights (+39.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 36,600 registered bed nights (+60.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,000 (+178.7 %) for foreigners in Varkaus Region, in total 37,600 (+62.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

3,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 73 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.3 percent were domestic, and 4.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varkaus Region on average 2.4 nights (-0.21) and foreigners 1.4 nights (-0.82).

Registered accommodation sales in May were 333,000 euro (+127,000).
Registered January-May sales were 1.3 million euro and they increased 452,000 euro from the previous year.
