Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 49 percent
In December 2021, 6,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Varkaus Region (+48.7 %), of which 6,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 158 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 47 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 159 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 49 percent from last year's December.
3,100 nights (+32.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,400 nights (+67.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 102,000 registered bed nights (+17.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,400 (-14.9 %) for foreigners in Varkaus Region, in total 108,000 (+14.9 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 2.8 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Varkaus Region, length of stay in December was on average 2.8 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-5.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varkaus Region on average 2.8 nights (-8.0 %) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.5 %).
2,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 53 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.6 percent were domestic, and 2.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Varkaus Region on average 2.8 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.72).
