Registered bed nights increased 38 percent

In September 2021, 50,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+37.6 %), of which 46,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 36 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 55 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 38 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,200 nights).

14,500 rooms (+31.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,600 rooms (+30.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 365,000 registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 21,900 (+10.3 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 387,000 (+7.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

33,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.2 percent were domestic, and 5.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.5 nights (-0.25) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.02).
