Registered bed nights increased 49 percent

In May 2022, 58,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+49.0 %), of which 54,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 48 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 67 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 49 percent from last year's May.

15,600 rooms (+36.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,600 rooms (+143.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 227,000 registered bed nights (+59.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,000 (+69.5 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 242,000 (+60.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

37,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 86 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.9 percent were domestic, and 6.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.6 nights (-0.37) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-1.0).
