Registered bed nights increased 61 percent

In April 2021, 33,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+61.3 %), of which 31,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 59 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 100 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 61 percent from last year's April.

10,500 rooms (+113.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,000 rooms (+37.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 105,000 registered bed nights (-17.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,500 (-34.9 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 112,000 (-18.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.3 percent

Total of 2.6 million registered bed nights (+102.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.3 million nights (+103.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (+90.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

18,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 97 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.8 percent were domestic, and 4.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.8 nights (-0.39) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.86).
