36,800 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 36,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (-16.9 %), of which 34,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 46 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 17 percent from last year's September.

11,000 rooms (+7.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,200 rooms (-44.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 341,000 registered bed nights (-16.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 19,900 (-57.9 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 361,000 (-20.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

20,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.1 percent were domestic, and 5.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.7 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.02).
