Registered bed nights increased 59 percent

In January 2022, 34,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+59.1 %), of which 33,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 59 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 67 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 59 percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (650 nights).

11,300 rooms (+38.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,500 rooms (+91.4 %) by business visitors.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+6.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.0 million nights (-3.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (+108.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

23,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 112 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.5 percent were domestic, and 3.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.5 nights (-0.49) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.99).
