29,400 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 29,400 bed nights were recorded in Västerås (-35.2 %), of which 27,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 34 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 44 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 35 percent from last year's March.

8,100 rooms (-36.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,700 rooms (-40.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 108,000 bed nights (-4.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,100 (-19.7 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 117,000 (-5.7 %) nights.

Total of 2.8 million bed nights (-37.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

15,500 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 41 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 95.9 percent were domestic, and 4.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.8 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+1.2).
