Registered bed nights increased 10 percent
In December 2019, 42,000 bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+9.7 %), of which 39,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 18 percent. In total, bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.
12,000 rooms (+19.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 13,900 rooms (+11.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 530,000 bed nights (+9.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 61,200 (-8.5 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 591,000 (+7.2 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

25,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 94.3 percent were domestic, and 5.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.6 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.05).
