Registered bed nights increased one percent

In September 2019, 44,300 bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+1.2 %), of which 39,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased three percent and foreign bed nights decreased 14 percent. In total, bed nights increased one percent from last year's September.

10,300 rooms (+10.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,000 rooms (+3.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 406,000 bed nights (+11.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 47,200 (-7.6 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 453,000 (+8.8 %) nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 4.5 million bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

26,200 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 91.3 percent were domestic, and 8.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.7 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.01).
