Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 15 percent

In June 2019, 53,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+15.3 %), of which 46,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 14 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 15 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,000 nights).

12,000 rooms (+38.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,600 rooms (-12.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 253,000 registered bed nights (+12.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,100 (-9.9 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 279,000 (+9.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay increased 36 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 36 percent compared to earlier year. In Västerås, length of stay in June was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+4.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 2.4 nights (+17.6 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).

22,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.6 percent were domestic, and 13.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 2.4 nights (+0.67) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.24).
