In January 2021, 21,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (-48.8 %), of which 20,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 960 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 47 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 72 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 49 percent from last year's January.

8,200 rooms (-22.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 3,900 rooms (-76.7 %) by business visitors.

Total of 2.2 million registered bed nights (-42.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.0 million nights (-33.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 195,000 nights (-75.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased 13 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. In Västerås, length of stay in January was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 3.4 nights (+45.2 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 2.0 nights and foreigners 3.4 nights .

10,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 55 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.3 percent were domestic, and 2.7 percent were from foreign countries.
