Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In October 2021, 50,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+16.5 %), of which 47,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 55 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's October.

12,300 rooms (-11.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 18,900 rooms (+66.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 412,000 registered bed nights (+7.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 25,300 (+14.8 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 437,000 (+8.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.3 percent

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+25.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+19.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 708,000 nights (+57.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 13 percent compared to earlier year. In Västerås, length of stay in October was on average 1.6 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-4.6 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.6 nights (-3.2 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+10.2 %).

32,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 35 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.9 percent were domestic, and 6.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.6 nights (-0.26) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.01).
