Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 111 percent

In December 2021, 41,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+111.0 %), of which 38,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 108 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 160 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 111 percent from last year's December.

14,200 rooms (+103.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,300 rooms (+164.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 501,000 registered bed nights (+18.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 31,300 (+26.2 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 532,000 (+18.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.4 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 27 percent compared to earlier year. In Västerås, length of stay in December was on average 1.4 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-24.9 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.4 nights (-8.8 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+0.1 %).

29,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 190 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.2 percent were domestic, and 5.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.4 nights (-0.51) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-1.1).
