Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 55 percent

In February 2022, 42,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Västerås (+54.9 %), of which 40,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 56 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 42 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 55 percent from last year's February.

13,100 rooms (+27.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,600 rooms (+106.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 72,900 registered bed nights (+57.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,900 (+50.0 %) for foreigners in Västerås, in total 76,800 (+56.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.4 percent

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+10.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.3 million nights (-3.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 571,000 nights (+159.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västerås out of total registered bed nights was 1.4 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. In Västerås, length of stay in February was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (-34.6 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.7 nights (-19.6 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-42.5 %).

24,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 83 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.7 percent were domestic, and 5.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västerås on average 1.7 nights (-0.27) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-1.4).
