Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In June 2018, 128,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+11.5 %), of which 106,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 19 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (5,300 nights).

19,200 rooms (+8.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 24,300 rooms (+3.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 407,000 registered bed nights (+2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 66,000 (+22.9 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 473,000 (+4.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.9 percent

Total of 6.6 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.7 million nights (+2.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.0 million nights (+4.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.9 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.3 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

Length of stay increased six percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in June was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (+0.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (+2.8 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+12.4 %).

70,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 81.7 percent were domestic, and 18.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.09).
